Settlement Discussion with the City of Pflugerville in the Main Street East Expansion
Church Family, we are moving closer to a final resolution with the City of Pflugerville regarding the impact of the Main Street East project and its expansion through the back parking lot on our church property. Our attorney has negotiated a good deal and we are awaiting the final contract settlement agreement documents. Once in hand, we will notify the congregation with at least 10 days advance notice, and we can take an official vote on the contract. We held an all-church informational meeting on Sunday, September 29 following our worship service. Paul Shinkawa, a member of our congregation, a retired attorney, and the liaison between our attorney and the Administrative Council, presented the details of the settlement discussion between our attorney and the city’s attorney. In short, the church will give up a portion of the back parking lot and property on the north side, receive an acre of land on the old gin property (east of our property) with a new parking lot, easements, and access to the new Main Street expansion, which will be paid for and constructed by the city and be maintained by the city for a number of years, plus we will receive a cash settlement in the amount of $503,000 (with 25% going to our lawyer for the year’s worth of work and negotiations on this deal). A rough estimation of the scope of the project and impact on the property are shown on the maps and renderings below.
